Betty A. McDaniel, born on August 27, 1946, in Port St. Joe, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Blountstown, Florida. Betty lived a life defined by her dedication to helping others, particularly in her career caring for the elderly. She was known for her relentless spirit; she never seemed to walk anywhere, perpetually on the run as the hardest worker in her family.
Betty leaves behind her beloved daughters, Bessie Piercy and Rebecca Summerlin (James Bevis). She also played a significant role in raising her sister's daughter, Paula McDaniel. Her familial bonds extended to her cherished sisters, Gladis Mills, Mary Sconyers (Harold), and Mavis Wellman, and her brother, James Pitts (Wanda). In addition, Betty is also survived by her grandchildren, Joseph and Angelica Summerlin, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who hold their memories of her dear.
Betty is predeceased by her husband, Sterling "Shot" McDaniel, her parents, Lumon and Mamie Pitts, and her son-in-law, Raymond Piercy.
A time of visitation will be held on August 2, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. She will be remembered not just for her unwavering work ethic but also for the warmth, love, and joy she brought to the lives of those around her.
