Charles Everett Cauley

Charles Everett Cauley, known for his unwavering kindness and generous spirit, passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on November 11, 1946, in Belle Glade, Florida, Charles lived a life marked by deep devotion to family, steadfast service to his country, and an indelible ability to make a difference in the lives of all who knew him.

Charles’s roots in Belle Glade laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work, compassion, and care for others. Those who had the privilege of knowing Charles often remarked on his innate ability to brighten a room with his presence and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a man who not only lived for his family but also served as a pillar of strength and support within his community. Charles was also a pillar for his church. He loved the Lord above all else and enjoyed doing all he could for his church.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Charles served honorably with the Navy Seabees. His dedication to duty and love for his fellow servicemen continued well beyond his time in the military as he remained an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). His service to his country was not just a chapter in his life—it was a reflection of his character: courageous, dependable, and selfless.

Charles possessed a true gift for working with his hands. Renowned for his talent and ingenuity, he could fix anything, and friends and family alike relied on his remarkable skills. Beyond his practical talents, Charles held a deep love for the outdoors. Hunting and fishing gave him joy and offered opportunities for treasured moments, especially in pursuit of squirrels—a favorite pastime.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Elsie Cauley, along with his children: Keith (Shelia), Trent (Lori), and Travis Cauley (April), Lamar Holmes (Kim), Jonathan Eugene Holmes, and Shaleen Murray (Bobby). Charles was also a beloved brother to John and Cad, and a cherished brother to his sisters, Virginia Cornett and Penney Berry.

Charles’s legacy extends across generations. He was a devoted grandfather to Nicole, Thomas, Trace, Jacob, Cole, Nathan, Zelan, Aspen, Kyle, Dustin, Courtney (Kurt), Leandra, and Katherine. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren who brought him much pride and happiness: Silas, Anna, Chloe, Benjamin, Zachary, Brianna, Francis, Charlie Mae, Jaxon, and Mais.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Cauley; his mother, Gussie Dukes; and his sister, Helen Whitehurst.

Those close to Charles remember him as very giving and loving, consistently going out of his way to help others. His actions, big and small, spoke volumes about his caring nature and his commitment to making the world a better place.

A Funeral Service will be held in his honor on August 8, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM at Glory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church, 11485 NW Glory Hill Rd. Altha, FL 32421. A time of visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM also at Glory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church. All who knew and loved Charles are welcome to attend and celebrate his remarkable life.

Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and quiet strength. He will be remembered for the countless lives he touched, the wisdom he imparted, and the devoted family and friends who will cherish his memory always.
