David Wayne Hardwick, age 72, passed away on March 18, 2026. He was born on May 7, 1953, in Cairo, Georgia. Known by many as the "CB man" & went by the nickname "Equalizer," David was a familiar and well-loved presence in his community.

He worked as a mechanic for Ring Power and Mallory Elevator, and later spent over 20 years as a dedicated dump truck driver with CW Roberts before retiring. His strong work ethic and commitment to his trade were evident throughout his life.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Ruby Hardwick of Commerce, Georgia; his son, David Hardwick Jr. of Cairo, Georgia; his brother, Jimmy Hardwick of New Bern, North Carolina; and his sons-in-law, Loran Tyre and Archie Harris. He is survived by his children: Tanya (Ricky) Pearce of Cairo, Georgia; Marilyn (Bo) Hopkins of Bristol, Florida; Janie Tyre of Bristol, Florida; and Bobby Foster of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by his siblings: his sister, Ruth Bess of Blountstown, Florida; and his brothers, Dinkie Hardwick of Athens, Georgia; Danny (Angie) Hardwick of Hull, Georgia; and John (Connie) Hardwick of Commerce, Georgia.

David was a proud grandfather to Chelsi, Cynthia, Kayla, Cassie, Brittney, Jacob, Samuel, Delayna, River, and Heather, and was also blessed with several great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
