Etna M. Gaskin, a beloved educator and cherished member of her community, passed away on September 22, 2025, in Wewahitchka, Florida. Born on February 8, 1932, in Buena Vista, Georgia, she devoted 42 years of her life to teaching at Wewahitchka High School. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom as she served as the cheerleader coach for many years. Following her teaching career, she took on the role of food service director for Gulf County Schools, further influencing generations of students and families in her community.

Etna's love for children was evident in every aspect of her life, especially when she taught Sunday School. Her commitment to nurturing young hearts and minds extended to her fellow church members, as she embraced her faith with zeal and devotion. She cherished her time spent at church, where she formed bonds that would last a lifetime.

She leaves behind her son, Charles Gaskin, Jr., who carries forward her legacy with pride and her son-in-law, Dennis Kizziah. Etna's family was her pride and joy, and she adored her grandchildren, Brittany Kizziah Smith and her husband Brian, and Kim Wells and her husband J.T. The laughter and love of her great-grandchildren, Lexi Smith, Chason Smith, Jaxon Wells, and Teagon Wells, brought her immense joy and fulfillment in her later years.

Etna is also remembered fondly by her siblings: brothers Wiley, Kelly, James, and Lawrence McAllister, and sisters Mary Dotson and Tru Studdard. Together, they shared countless memories, creating a tapestry of family ties that woven through the fabric of her rich life.

Etna reunites with her husband, Charles A. Gaskin, along with her daughters, Linda Kizziah and Cindy Gaskin, and siblings Wessley, Paul, and Lois McAllister. The absence of her loved ones is felt deeply, yet their memories will live on in the stories shared by family and friends.

A visitation will be held on September 25, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Wewahitchka from 1 PM to 2 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2 PM. with Reverend Mike Stroud officiating. In her passing, Etna leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and inspiration that will never be forgotten. The impact she made on her students and community echoes in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. Her spirit lives on in the lessons taught, the lives touched, and the faith shared. She will be sorely missed but fondly remembered, forever a guiding light in the lives she enriched.
