Everett H. "Bud" Phinney

December 31, 1943 — May 10, 2025

Everett (Bud) Harley Phinney Jr., 81, of Bristol, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2025, peacefully in his home. Bud, a loving husband, dad, and papa lived a beautiful and fulfilled life. Bud was born on December 31, 1943, in Cando, North Dakota to loving parents, Everett and Ella Mae Phinney.

He was a hardworking man, dedicated to his family, everything he did was for them. He was a brick mason, a trade that he learned and began working in at the age of thirteen, a trade that he taught and shared with each of his sons, all things that he was extremely proud of. Bud's work ethic and talent was unmatched and because of this he had a hand in helping build and sculpt many beautiful homes and businesses within our community.

He was the strongest and toughest man, hardheaded and stubborn at times- a trait that he passed down through the whole family line. He had one of the strongest handshakes of any man and a great sense of humor, he could always make you laugh.

He loved fishing, riding motorcycles, and driving anything fast-especially when he could air it out from 0 to 60 with his lead foot. He loved classic cars and listening to old gospel and classic country music. He enjoyed growing grapes on the vine and homemade wine making, that sometimes turned out stronger than moonshine.

He enjoyed spicy foods, and in his later years his favorite was a caramel frappe from McDonald’s- in which he called upon his children and grandchildren to bring to him at least once, sometimes even twice a day… a simple pleasure that made life a little sweeter to the end. He had a sharp mind and didn’t forget anything you shared with him. He’d always be sure to ask you about it and life in general the next time he saw you.

Bud was the foundation and the rock of his family, stretching through the generations. He knew the value and importance of family and etched that value into each of us.

Bud is preceded in death by his loving parents, Everett and Ella Mae Phinney, his brother Howard Phinney, and his sister Beverly Sarra. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Frances Dasher Phinney, his son: Shane Phinney & daughter-in-law Charla, daughter: Sharmon Parrish & son-in-law Ricky, son: Sean Phinney & daughter-in-law Tracy, son: Stuart Phinney, his 9 grandchildren: Ashlie Waldorff & her husband Andy, Chip Phinney & his wife Kayla, McCayla Labrador & her husband Jake, Samantha Buckhalt & her husband Bucky, Jacob Phinney, Sami Brown & her husband Justin, Taylor Wear & her husband Michael, Nichole Murphy, and Madison Phinney, his siblings: Larry (Sharol) Phinney, James (Melissa) Phinney, Donna (Eddie) Kakes, Ella Mae (Melvin) Beck, Bonnie Phinney, Brenda Phinney, and brother-in-law Coy Dasher.
