Gary Hyatt, of Tallahassee, passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on May 23, 1945, in Marianna, Florida.
Gary will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord and as just a good ole boy whose way of life reflected warmth, faith, and a deep appreciation for the people around him. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and some of his happiest times were spent with family and friends. Those who knew him will remember the steady joy he found in simple pleasures and in being with the people he loved.
He also served his country with honor in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. His service stands as an important part of his life and legacy.
Gary is survived by his wife, Bobbie Hightower; his son, Chad Hyatt; and his step-son, James Hightower. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Hunter, as well as James, Elizabeth, and Fisher. The love of his family was an important part of his life, and his memory will continue to live on in those who knew him best and carry him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ben Hyatt; his daughter, Dale Hightower; his grandchildren, Austin Porter and Nikki Hightower; and his parents, Loray Odom and James David Hyatt. He is also preceded in death by his brother, James, and sister, Carolyn Roddenberry.
A funeral service for Gary Hyatt will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bristol Church Of God, 19102 Florida 12, Bristol, Florida 32321. Interment will follow in Meacham Cemetery in Bristol with full military honors.
Gary’s life was marked by faith, service, and love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
