Gary Kever, of Hosford, Florida, born on August 2, 1952, in Blountstown, Florida, passed away on April 2, 2026, in Blountstown after a courageous battle with bone cancer. Gary's life was marked by dedication, both in his career and in the passions he pursued.
For many years, Gary served with distinction at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, where his commitment and work ethic were deeply valued until his retirement. Throughout his life, he found joy and solace in the outdoors, especially through hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Cleve and Ellie Mae White Kever, whose legacy he carried forward with pride.
He leaves behind cherished family members: his brother, Glen Kever and his wife Sara; sisters, Janelle Johnson, Janice Johnson, and Rita Hatcher along with her husband Stephen Shepard. Gary was also a treasured uncle to many—nephews Chuck Johnson and his wife Amy, Jim Johnson, Sterling Phillips; nieces Joan Wright and her husband Michael, and Jessie Bennett alongside her husband Curtis. His extended family includes a host of great nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Gary’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026,at Sanders Cemetery, in Hosford, Florida with Reverend Aaron Elkins officiating. Gary's memory endures in the hearts of those who knew him, defined by a life of service, love for the natural world, and a steadfast spirit that inspired those around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
