Heather Peacock Leonard passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Joe, her son Daniel and his wife Ali, her son David and his wife Jessica, and one grandson that was the light of her life, Jack. She is also survived by her parents John Peacock Sr. and Wynette, her older sister Karla Jenkins and her husband Danny, her younger brother John Peacock Jr. and his wife Jamie, her mother-in-law Hester Leonard, her brother-in-law Mike Leonard and his wife Sue, and several nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of Blountstown, Heather made her career at Carr School. She had a heart for children and, for fifteen years, greeted students with a smile every morning when they arrived and patiently tutored many through middle school algebra. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a teacher in the two-year-old Sunday school class, played in the handbell choir, and led crafts in Vacation Bible School every summer. Heather was very strong in her faith and never allowed sickness or disappointment to cause her to doubt God’s love. She was also an avid University of Florida athletics fan. She loved the Gators and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on, win or lose, in all kinds of weather, always with her family.
Heather especially loved children, her friends, and her family. Each person in her life was special to her. She will be dearly missed.
Services to honor Heather's life will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from the First Baptist Church of Blountstown with Reverend Tim Rhoads officiating. The family will have a time of visitation directly after the funeral services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Heather’s honor be made to One More Child (formerly known as Florida Baptist Children’s Homes). https://onemorechild.org/give/
