Janet Ballard, born on November 9, 1935, in Alameda, California, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. A devoted Personnel Technician and District Administrator for the State of Florida Health and Human Services Department, Janet dedicated her career to serving her community with compassion and diligence.
In 2015, Janet made the heartfelt decision to move to Hosford, Florida, from Crawfordville, where she continued to leave a lasting impression in the lives of those who knew her. Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Janet would often describe her as the nicest person you would ever meet; always willing to help others, embodying a spirit of service that inspired all around her.
Janet had a deep love for her family, and her most cherished memories revolve around her time spent with her grandchildren. She would take them on camping trips, where they created lasting memories amidst nature's beauty. Trips to the zoo and swimming in Silver Springs highlighted her desire to share joyful experiences and foster connections with her loved ones.
Her interests included shopping, indulging in ice cream, and tending to her beloved plants, reflecting her vibrant personality and zest for life. Janet embodied warmth and kindness, traits that will surely live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina Sanders and her husband Bo; her grandchildren, April Joiner and Jennifer Sanders; as well as her step-grandchildren, Jennifer Mullins and Jessica Coleman. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Peterson and Violet Sager; her husband, Robert "Bob" Ballard; and her sons, Richard, Donald, and Michael Ballard.
A graveside service to honor Janet's life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM at Sanders Cemetery in Hosford, Florida. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who touched so many with her boundless love and generosity. Janet Ballard's legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind.
