Jeanette Bailey, 93 of Blountstown, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at her home. Jeanette was born in Bristol, Florida, October 14, 1927, to the late Carlton Herndon and Lydia Crews Herndon. She received a bachelor’s degree from University of Florida and was a teacher in Calhoun County Schools. She was an avid Gator fan and part of the Grand Guard Society at University of Florida. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a long-time member of First Baptist Church. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband W. L. Bailey; her sons David Bailey and Jeff Bailey; a brother, Moses Herndon and his wife Ann; her sisters, Juanita Burgess and her husband Hugh, Eleanor Reynolds and her husband Vern and Marjorie Peters. Survivors include her daughter, Jan Turner of Blountstown, her grandchildren, Jenny, Jessie, Jason and Jeffrey; her great grandchildren, Cliff, Bellamy, Bailey, Andrew, Emma and Bryleigh as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Services to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Boggs Cemetery in Blountstown with Reverend Tim Rhodes officiating.
