Jimmy Dale Marshall

Jimmy Dale Marshall, Sr, 72 of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, in Dothan, Alabama. Jim was born September 1, 1948, in Altha to the late Wilmer Montie(Bill) Marshall and Rosa Lee Nichols Marshall. He lived in Calhoun County most of his life and was a member of Macedonia First Baptist Church. Jim graduated from Blountstown High School in 1966 and later obtained his Bachelor's from Florida State University in Social Worker and his Master’s from Troy State University in Psychology. He was a retired Master Sergeant serving in the United States Air Force where he served two tours of Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, in 1987, he worked as a social worker for the state of Florida and taught science and reading at Bay and Franklin County Schools for several years. Jim gave his time to his community as well serving in the Order of Eastern Star at Blountstown Chapter #179 and Washington #43 in Quincy where he served as Worthy Patron, Associate Patron, Chaplain. and Marshal and was elected as Florida Worthy Grand Patron in 2014-2015 with the Hylsop and Marshall family, (where he was known as the papa of the family), past president of the Blountstown Rotary Club, and past worshipful master in the Masonic Dixie Lodge 109 F&AM and serving as the secretary for Dixie Lodge for several years. He also served as a deacon of Ocean Springs Baptist Church while serving at Kessler Air Force Base. Jim's home was always open to visitors and he had many Eastern Star members who stayed overnight as they traveled the state. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Maria Marshall, and a brother, Leon Marshall. Survivors include his wife, of 52 years Alice Faye Marshall of Clarksville; his son, Jimmy Dale Marshall, Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Blountstown; his brothers Terry and his wife Marie, and Wilmer “Pelo” Marshall and his wife Sharon both of Clarksville; a sister Ethell Brown of Clarksville and a grandchild Sarah Gracie Marshall who was the light of his world. He also had a special close friend who he spent many hours in the field chasing deer out of the garden, Richard Failes, and who helped him as he traveled the state for Eastern Star events. Services to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Sumner officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery near Blountstown with full military honors. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
