John Wayne Mills, a man known for his warm spirit and welcoming nature, passed away on April 20, 2026 in Panama City. Born on July 7, 1970, in Lake City, Florida, John was raised in Sneads, Florida, where he formed the strong values that would define him throughout his life. He lived a life marked by his genuine kindness and the unmistakable ability to make everyone feel like an old friend, truly embodying the adage that he never met a stranger.
John’s life was rich with passions and pastimes that reflected his character. An avid outdoorsman, he spent countless hours hunting and fishing, finding solace and joy in the natural world. Equally devoted to his family and friends, John cherished the moments spent in their company, often engaging in hands-on projects as a skilled handyman who delighted in building and creating. His talents brought both practical comfort and heartfelt joy to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved partner Lisa Brooks; his devoted son Caleb Mills and daughter-in-law Savannah; and his cherished daughter Taylor Mills. John also leaves behind his brothers Christopher Howell (wife Cindy), Brian Howell, Robert Howell, and William Riley (wife Tracy); and his sisters Tammy Hubbart (husband Gene), Vanessa Powell (husband Ronnie), and Vicki Baxter (husband Wayne). His legacy extends to his dear grandchildren, Jasey and Dailly Mills, who brought immense happiness to his later years.
John was preceded in death by his father, Robert Howell; his mother, Christine Hagan; and his sister, Brenda Emertt. Their memories remain an enduring part of his story.
