Laddie E. Williams

Laddie E. Williams, a lifelong resident of Blountstown, Florida, passed away in Blountstown on September 2, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born in Blountstown on August 25, 1934, and spent his life serving the community he called home with dedication, leadership, and deep care for its people.

Laddie built a long and hardworking life marked by business, public service, and faith. He was the co-owner and operator of CC Corbin Hardware for many years, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and connection to the people of Blountstown. He later continued his working life through A&W Aquaculture Farms , where he sold striped bass, including fish that were sold to the Queen of England. Hardware was always in his blood and quenched his thirst by joining and managing Tatum's Hardware until his retirement in 2020 at the age of 86.

His commitment to Blountstown extended far beyond his work. He served as Mayor of Blountstown for 12 years and also served on the Blountstown City Council. Through these roles, he gave generously of his time and energy to the betterment of the community. Among the accomplishments for which he will be especially remembered was being instrumental in keeping the Calhoun - Liberty Hospital open when it faced closure may times in the small community, and he also played a role in obtaining funding and grants to construct the new hospital facility in Blountstown. His efforts left a lasting mark on the community and on the lives of those who depended on those services.

Laddie was also active in many civic and church organizations. He served the Blountstown Methodist Church on various boards, was involved with the Blountstown Chamber of Commerce, served as president of the Lions Club, and gave his time in getting the ministry center in Blountstown started. In all of these places, he was known as someone willing to step forward, help where needed, and invest in the well-being of others.

He also cherished the joys of family life and the outdoors. He especially looked forward to the annual family trip to St George Island where precious memories were forged against the backdrop of the sun drenched shore. Being outdoors brought a simple pleasure that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Laddie was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Williams; his son, Jeffery Williams; his father, Earnest Williams; his mother, Ruth Williams; and his sisters, Nell Vansickle and Joyce Little.

He is survived by his sons, Marvin Williams, Roger Williams and his wife Laura, and Grant Williams and his wife Regina, and by his daughter, Peggy Meyer and her husband Joe. He is also survived by his brother, Leon Williams. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Trevor, Rachel, Joe, Jeremy, Jacob, Joshua, Jordan, Jaren, and JC, and through his great-grandchildren, Katalyna, Beaux, Joe Jr., Jeremy Jr., and Cooper. He leaves behind a family who will carry forward the memory of his strength, devotion, and love.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Blountstown Methodist Church, 20500 West Central Avenue in Blountstown. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Reverend Steve Warren and Dr. Ken Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Cemetery.

Laddie will be remembered as a devoted family man, a faithful servant of his church, a steady presence in business and civic life, and a man whose efforts helped shape the Blountstown community for generations. His life was one of purpose, service, and enduring love for home and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Laddie's name to Embrace Florida Kids and Vitas Hospice.
