Linda Ann Adams of Blountstown passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at her home. Linda was born in Wausau, Florida to the late Alex Broward Wood and Phelicia Amanda Foley Wood. She attended Chipola College in 1959 where she met her husband Tom Adams who was venturing on a career in the funeral service. They eventually moved to Blountstown in 1966. Linda graduated from Florida State School of Music in 1970 with her degree in music education and began teaching one of her loves, the piano, in her home. She began her school teaching career in Choral Music in 1971 at Blountstown Middle School and Blountstown High School and soon began as music director at Blountstown First Baptist Church in 1972 where she led the Adult Choir, Youth Choir and created a Handbell Choir while still teaching at the schools and the piano to students in the afternoons. First and foremost, she was a musician and an educator, always giving to her community and trying to lend encouragement and guidance to her students. She brought to the community musicals, madrigal dinners, concerts for the seasons, cantatas, and culture. She was instrumental in shaping many voices and talents in Calhoun County. She had such a love of the arts and culture that she taught humanities in the schools for several years. She worked tirelessly in her church for twenty-five years through her deep love of her Lord and her true love of music. She shared her talents and multiplied them through all she touched. In her retirement she loved spending her time helping her son in the funeral home and reading novels.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tom Adams in 2002; a brother Avery Wood and two sisters, Janice Wood and Patricia McEntire.
Survivors include her son Tim Adams and his wife Tonya; her daughter, Allyson Adams; her grandchildren, Ashley Adams and his wife Emily, Kristen Adams, McKenzie Adams, Heather Sullivan, Holland Metcalf and her husband Josh; her great-granddaughter Daisy Metcalf; her brothers Howard Foley Wood and his wife Mary Nell and Donald Wood and her sister, Geneva Greer and many nieces, nephews and very special friends.
Services to celebrate and honor Linda’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Rhoads officiating.
