Lorene Newman Godwin

Apr 8, 1956 — Nov 3, 2026

Altha, Florida

Lorene "Lorrie" Godwin, age 70, of Altha, Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 3, 2026, following a courageous battle with ALS.

Although ALS weakened her earthly body, it never shook her faith. Lorrie remained steadfast in her love for the Lord, trusting in His promises until the very end.

A devoted member of Hiland Park Baptist Church, Lorrie's greatest passion was for everyone to know Jesus and to love one another. Above all, she treasured her family and had a special way of making each person feel loved, valued, and important.

Lorrie is survived by her loving husband, John "JD" Godwin; her son, Jamie Meadors (Cherie); her daughters, Christina Deegins (John) and Amanda Cernicek (Garrett); and her beloved grandchildren, Tyler Carpenter, Taylor Meadors, McKenzie Meadors, Hayley Deegins, Harper Cernicek, Henry Cernicek, Kailyn, Mako, Cruz and Coral. She is also survived by many beloved family members.

While she will be deeply missed her family finds peace in knowing she is now healed and resting in the arms of Jesus. Her greatest legacy will always be her faith, her love for others, and the lives she touched.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
