Mae Edwinna Dalton, passed away on June 29, 2026, in her lifelong hometown of Bristol, Florida. Born on September 13, 1934, in Bristol, she remained a steadfast presence in the community throughout her 91 years, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion.
Edwinna was the cherished daughter of the late Ross Bateman Sr. and Jessie Mae Bateman, and the beloved wife of the late Alton Massey Dalton. Her brother, Ross Bateman Jr., also preceded her in death. She is remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who knew her.
Family was at the heart of Edwinna’s life. She is survived by her sons, Randal Massey Dalton and Chad Dewane Dalton (Crystal), and her daughters, Lawanda Faye Simpson (Bart) and Gilda Denise Vinson. Her presence will be deeply missed by her sisters, Gwynn Carpenter, Jean Helton, and Ouida Strickland (James). Edwinna’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Micha, Alex, Blake, and Delayna, each of whom brought her great joy and pride.
A lifetime resident of Bristol, Edwinna’s commitment to her community was matched only by her enduring faith. She was a devoted member of Lake Mystic Baptist Church for her entire life, where her spiritual dedication was evident to all. As a longtime Sunday school teacher and training union instructor, Edwinna touched the lives of countless children and adults, guiding so many in their spiritual journeys. Her service as a pianist at the church graced many gatherings with music and reverence, enriching worship and celebrations alike.
Those who were fortunate to know Mae Edwinna Dalton will remember her unwavering warmth, her gentle guidance, and her steadfast faith. Her roles within her family, church, and community defined a life spent in service to others, always with grace and humility.
Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate Edwinna’s life with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. July 2, 2026, at Lake Mystic Baptist Church followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Cody Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery.
