Melinda Manis, born on July 28, 1950, in Phoenix, Alabama, passed away at home on February 14, 2026, in Alford, Florida surrounded by cherished family and friends. Melinda lived a life rich with love, faith, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she frequently shared her faith through her actions and interactions, embodying the qualities of kindness and compassion.
Melinda was united in marriage to Charles McCue on March 30, 1968, an event that was celebrated by their elopement to Cairo, Georgia. Together, they welcomed three beloved children: Lawanda, Michelle, and Zandy. She was later remarried to Robert Manis, with whom she welcomed their cherished twins, Mary Lou and Robert.
Throughout her life, Melinda was known not only for her deep love for her family but also for her unique ability to consider friends as family. She brought joy into every space she occupied, and her radiant smile could light up any room, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere wherever she went.
Her creative spirit was evidenced in her many hobbies and interests, particularly her love for crafting and baking. Each Christmas, Melinda lovingly crafted handmade gifts for her family, celebrating the season with heartfelt tokens of her affection. Additionally, her passion for baking shone during family birthdays when she would make delightful birthday cakes for her grandchildren, imbuing each celebration with her personal touch.
Melinda’s legacy continues through her cherished family members. She is survived by her children, Lawanda Dixon and husband Ronnie, Michelle Hartley and husband Frank, Zandy McCue and wife Michelle, Mary Lou Jennison Hancock and husband Jason, and Robert Jennison and wife Katelyn. She also leaves behind her siblings, Larry Olds and wife Barbara, and Roberta Jennison and husband Irvin, who will remember her warmth and love with fondness. Melinda’s grandchildren, Ronnie Dixon and wife Amber, TJ Deese and wife Kelly, Makayla Godwin and husband Colby, Jeremy "Bubba" Deese and wife McKaylin, and Abby Rhodes are grateful for the memories and wisdom she imparted.
Melinda's family tree further extends to many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including her special friends and adopted family, Charles and Lori Waldron. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Mary Lou Olds, her husband Robert Manis, and her brother-in-law Irvin.
A memorial service honoring Melinda's life will be held on March 1, 2026, at Cottondale First Assembly of God, located at 2636 Milton St, Cottondale, Florida. The service will begin at 3:00 PM.
