Myrtle M. Pelt

Myrtle M. Pelt, a cherished member of the Blountstown community, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 96 in Blountstown, Florida. Born on November 29, 1928, in Marianna, Florida, Myrtle lived a life filled with kindness and dedication. She devoted many years to her career as a teacher's aide before transitioning into banking, where she worked for a decade. Myrtle was not only committed to her professional endeavors but was also a devoted wife to her late husband, James Pelt, a minister. Throughout his career, she steadfastly stood by his side, fully dedicating herself to their church and the community.

Myrtle had a profound love for reading, cooking, and most notably, spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took great joy in her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Maloy and her husband Mike; her grandchildren, Jim Barbee, Matthew Barbee, Christopher Mears, and Ashley Britt; as well as her eight great-grandchildren: Nichole Cauley, Gabriel Britt, Collin Mears, Allyson Hart, Brooks Ann Peddie, Thomas Cauley, and Brant and Maelyn Barbee. Additionally, she took delight in her great-great-grandchildren, Silas Waldorff, Chloe Cauley, Anna Kate Cauley, and Tanoah Hart.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, James Pelt, her daughter, Georgia Barbee, her son Brandon Barbee, brothers, Donald, Hodges, and Wayne Martin, and her sister, Leatha Newberry. Her legacy of kindness and commitment to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on August 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Blountstown with Reverend Tim Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in Nettle Ridge Cemetery. Her family invites all to join them in celebrating the life of a truly remarkable woman.
