Nancy Jean Mercer, a cherished life-long resident of Hosford, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at Brynwood Rehabilitation in Monticello, Florida, following a lengthy illness. Born on August 18, 1961, in Monticello, Florida, Nancy was a woman of deep faith and enduring spirit who touched the lives of many around her.

A devoted member of the Mormon faith, Nancy's life was marked by a love for simple pleasures and rich experiences. She was an avid reader, delighting in the worlds created by countless authors. Music was a constant companion in her life, as she loved listening to a wide variety of genres, and she took great joy in being a huge wrestling fan, following the sport with enthusiasm and passion.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Thomas "Shorty" Mercer and Betty Jean Mercer, as well as her dear brother, Terry Sterling Mercer. Though their presence will be deeply missed, their legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved Nancy.

She leaves behind a network of devoted family and friends who will carry forward her memory. Among them are her sister-in-law Linda Mercer; nephews Sterling Mercer and his wife Savannah, and Thomas Mercer and his wife Sandy; niece Delia Mercer; uncles Roy Morgan and his wife Rita, Silas Morgan and his wife Pam, James Morgan and his wife Jeannie, and John Morgan and his wife Sue; aunts Marie Morgan, Rose Ann Stewart and her husband Robert, and Julia Morgan; and her close friends Zann and Margie Geiger. Nancy was also a proud great aunt to nine great nieces and nephews, who brought her much joy over the years.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brynwood Rehabilitation for the compassionate care and unwavering support they provided Nancy during her four years there. Their kindness and dedication were a source of comfort to her and her loved ones.

A funeral service to honor Nancy’s life will be held on May 1, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, in Blountstown, Florida. A viewing will take place prior to the service beginning at 1:30 PM. Family, friends, and all who knew Nancy are invited to gather and celebrate her many gifts, her enduring kindness, and the warmth she shared so freely.

Nancy’s legacy is one of devotion to faith, family, and friendship. She will be lovingly remembered for her vibrant spirit and the rich life she lived here in Florida. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her.
