Royce Gene Wise

Royce Gene Wise, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026 at the Margaret Z. Dozier House in Tallahassee at the age of 78. He was born on February 5, 1948, in Blountstown and was a life long resident of Calhoun County.

Royce lived a life marked by duty, courage, and deep devotion to his country. He served for 20 years in the United States Army, a career that stood as a defining testament to his strength of character and steadfast commitment. During his military service, he completed three tours in Vietnam and was known as a very proud and devoted soldier. His service reflected both sacrifice and honor, and it remained a lasting source of pride throughout his life. He was always proud of all he accomplished in life.

Above all, Royce will be remembered by those who knew and loved him best. He is survived by his wife, Annie Wise; his brother, A.J. Wise and his wife Jackie; his sister, Merlene Cook; and his brother-in-law, Jim Downs as well as many nieces, nephews and other wonderful friends that loved him. Their lives are part of the legacy he leaves behind, and his memory will continue to be carried forward with love and gratitude.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Regina Wise; his son, Michael Gene Wise; his parents, Ronal and Ester Wise; his brother, Willie D. Wise; and his sisters, Annie Pearl Story, Thelma Scott, Edna Stephens, and Glenda Merl Downs. As his family remembers him, they also hold close the many bonds of love that connected them across generations.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Darrell Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

Royce will be remembered with respect for his service, with admiration for his dedication, and with enduring love by his family and all who honor his life.
