Thomas Lloyd Blackburn, a devoted family man and respected community leader, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Blountstown, Florida. Born on December 2, 1937, Lloyd was a lifelong resident of Blountstown and a proud alumnus of the community.
Lloyd had a distinguished career as the Superintendent of the State Road Department, overseeing several counties with dedication and integrity. He approached his work with passion, earning the respect of his colleagues and contributing significantly to the infrastructure of the region. Despite his professional commitments, Thomas always prioritized his family, demonstrating an unwavering love and support that will be cherished by those he leaves behind.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Lloyd served aboard the USS Valley Forge from 1956 to 1960. His military service instilled in him values of duty and perseverance which he carried throughout his life.
Lloyd was not only a hard worker but also a man of many interests. He and his wife, Karen, shared a love for travel, spending years exploring National Parks across the country, venturing to Alaska, and enjoying the beauty of the mountains. A devoted fan of the Florida Gators, he relished all college sports as well as boxing. Fishing and gardening were among his favorite pastimes, providing him with solace and joy in the simplicity of nature.
He is survived by his son, Mike Blackburn, and his wife Sheila of Blountstown; daughters, Lisa Davis and her husband Tony of Clarksville, and Shelly Seddon and her husband Joe of Cherokee, North Carolina; his daughter-in-law, Amy Blackburn; his sister-in-law, Vonice Blackburn; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen; son, Johnny; his brothers, Ardell, V.L., Raymond, Artice, and Pete; and sisters, Rubbie, Ola, Mandy, Sybil, Hilda, Hazel, and Lavine.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on June 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Adams Funeral Home. This will be followed by a funeral service at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
In his passing, Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and community spirit that will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
