Thomas Harold Buchanan, born on April 14, 1958, in Douglasville, GA, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, in Altha, FL. His life, marked by dedication to family, service, and community, leaves behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Thomas, known for his unwavering work ethic and kind spirit, started his journey in Douglasville, where he developed a foundational love for adventure and the outdoors—a passion that would shape much of his life. Upon reaching adulthood, Thomas answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army for 13 years. His commitment to his country earned him the respect of peers and superiors alike, and he carried that honor with him throughout all his endeavors.
Following his military service, Thomas found great satisfaction in working as a mechanic. Whether he was in the shop or lending a hand to friends and neighbors, his expertise and willingness to help never went unnoticed. His mechanical skills were matched only by the joy he found in simple pleasures. Thomas was an avid boater and fisherman, relishing time spent on the water. He also had a deep appreciation for motorcycles, often sharing rides and stories with fellow enthusiasts.
At the heart of Thomas’s world was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Dana Buchanan; Thomas’s legacy continues through his sons, Charles Worth (Lynn), Jonathan Buchanan, Thomas Buchanan, and Robby Loudermilk (Ermie); his daughters, Brooksie Trotti and Christina Shindley; his sisters, Wanda Dascole and Diane Veitch; his brothers, Raburne Buchanan and Jerrel Buchanan (Marie); and his cherished grandchildren: Seth Mitchell, Taylor, Brooklyn, Kira, Sebastian, Temprance, Ayden, and Addison. Thomas was also blessed with the joys of great-grandparenthood, survived by his great-grandchild Georgia McKenzie Mitchell.
Though his passing creates a deep sense of loss, Thomas is reunited with beloved family members who preceded him, including his parents; his brother Lyndall Buchanan and his sisters Janice Diamond, Shelby Granger, and Janifer Bales. Their memories live on in the stories, traditions, and values he so affectionately passed to those around him.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Thomas’ life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, in Blountstown with Reverend Charles Coley officiating. Thomas will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his loved ones, his service to his nation, and his zest for life’s adventures. His absence is deeply felt, but the impact of his kindness and the strength of his character endure as a guiding light for all who loved him.
