Wayne Posey, born on August 18, 1945, in Red Level, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June27, 2025, in Blountstown, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication, known for his easygoing nature and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Wayne dedicated many years of his life to the telecommunications industry, working with the telephone company until his well-deserved retirement. His professional journey reflects a diligent spirit and a true devotion to service, traits that were equally evident in his personal life.
A man of faith, Wayne served as a deacon at Gateway Baptist Church for many years, where he made a positive impact on his community through his steadfast service and support. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting and spending time in nature. He was also a passionate Alabama football fan. Wayne's creativity and craftsmanship shone through in his woodworking projects, where he could build nearly anything, demonstrating a talent that added beauty and functionality to the lives of those around him. Additionally, he had a deep appreciation for history, reflected in his passion for antique collecting, particularly coins.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Posey, who stood by his side through the many seasons of life. He is also survived by his son, Shannon Posey, and his daughter, Melissa Cessna, and her husband Paul. His cherished grandchildren include Shelby Taylor and her husband Mack, Justin Cessna, Nicholas Cessna, and John Taylor Cessna and his wife Tiffany. He will also be remembered fondly by his great-grandchildren, Colt Taylor and Gander Cessna, and by his sister, Diane Odom and her husband Marvin, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Wayne's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the stories shared among friends and family.
Visitation will be held on July 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery near Blountstown.
