Willard E. O'Brian, a renowned mechanic and drag racing enthusiast, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Blountstown, FL, at the age of 82. Born on December 17, 1942, in Altha, FL, Willard’s legacy is marked by his extraordinary contributions to the world of automotive racing and his deep faith.

Willard was celebrated for his prowess in mechanics, particularly in the realm of drag racing, where his distinguished car, “Old Rusty,” earned him numerous accolades. His remarkable talent and craftsmanship on race engines allowed him to maximize performance, leading to victories that were the envy of his peers. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to the sport, he was honored with an induction into the Old Drag Racers Hall of Fame in 2010. His skills extended beyond traditional racing as he also excelled at lawn mower tractor pulls, demonstrating a unique ability to get the most out of any machine.

In addition to his mechanical abilities, Willard was an easy-going and God-fearing man who held strong to his faith in the Lord and Savior. Willard leaves behind a devoted family, including his wife of 60 years, Alma O'Brian. He is survived by his sons, David O'Brian and Arnold O'Brian with companion Luda Stephens; his daughter, Tracy Smith and husband Craig; his brother, Jeff O'Brian and wife Ann; his sister, Verna Mae Williams and husband Ken; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Mason O'Brian, Christopher O'Brian, Kirsten Scarabin, and Douglas Scarabin. He is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Verna O'Brian, and his sister, Lawanda O'Brian.

A visitation will be held on May 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. A funeral service will follow on May 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel, with interment thereafter in Red Oak Cemetery.

Willard's remarkable spirit, cherished memories, and lasting impact will be honored by all who knew him, as he was not just an exemplary mechanic but a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
